World Chinese Business and Economic Summit: Chen Quanzhou Receives Outstanding Leadership Award and Lifetime Achievement Award
On
October 17, 2019, the World Chinese Business and Economic Summit was
held in Macau. Mr. Chen Quanzhou, Chairman of China's Cihang Group, was
invited to attend and received the "Outstanding Leadership Award and
Lifetime Achievement Award" to recognize his contributions in
innovation, entrepreneurship, charity, and public welfare.
The World Chinese
Business and Economic Summit was originally initiated in 2009 by Mr. Lim
Kok Yu, Chairman of Malaysia's Green Oasis Group, and Dr. Yeoh Eng
Kiong, Director of Malaysia's MyR.I.C.E. Institute. Its primary purpose
was to bring together Chinese people from around the world, facilitating
mutual learning between the East and West, and fostering new economic
meanings. The forum has been successfully held in Chongqing and Hong
Kong, as well as in London, Melbourne, Malacca, Kuala Lumpur, and other
locations. It has become an important platform for global Chinese people
to enhance mutual understanding, exchange ideas, and promote
cooperation. This year, the forum was renamed "World Chinese Business
and Economic Summit" with the aim of building bridges for cross-national
and cross-cultural communication. This is particularly significant
given the context of the Belt and Road Initiative and the deepening of
regional cooperation. The forum aims to strengthen partnerships among
Chinese businesses and promote shared prosperity.
The event was
organized by a coalition of institutions, including the World Chinese
Entrepreneur Association, the China-Sanya Public Diplomacy Institute,
the China-Pacific Economic Cooperation Council, the International Zheng
He Association, the Silk Road International Foundation, the China
Globalization Think Tank, the MyR.I.C.E. Institute, and the
Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce. It featured nine parallel forums on
various topics, including the Belt and Road Initiative, the Greater Bay
Area, Asia's future, digital Silk Road, entrepreneurship, enterprise,
and social enterprises, the establishment of the Beidou Navigation
System, the role of global Chinese people in investment and innovation,
and more. The event also included an award ceremony recognizing "Special
Outstanding Leadership and Lifetime Achievement."
During the summit, speeches and presentations were delivered by prominent figures, including Dr. Yeoh Eng Kiong, Co-Chairman of the World Chinese Business and Economic Summit; Mr. Lim Kok Yu, the initiator of the summit; Dr. Wang Huiyao, a Member of the Chinese State Council and Chairman of the China Globalization Think Tank; Mr. Arin Jira, Chairman of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council; Mr. Liu Changle, Chairman and CEO of Phoenix Satellite Television; and Mr. Naoyuki Takashima, Chairman of the Japan Center for International Public Policy Studies.
